The logo of the conference represents the harmonic blend of the golden heritage of the Indian Institute of Science with the field of technical excellence: "Nanostructured Materials". The logo includes a Y-junction C nanotube and some nanodispersoids.
All technical sessions of the Conference will be held in the National Science Seminar Complex, a part of the wooded campus of the Indian Institute of Science. Adequate international connection through fax/phone and e-mail will be provided to the delegates.
The host, Indian Institute of Science, is a leader in post-graduate education in India and is internationally known for its scientific and engineering research and development. The community consisting of faculty and graduate students (majority of who pursue research degrees) provides an ambience of high intellectual stimulus and a perfect backdrop for fruitful interactions.
"Most of the other cities of India remind one certainly of the present, certainly of the future but essentially of the past. But Bangalore, more than any other great city of india, is a picture of the future".

Bangalore is well connected to the rest of the world directly. Lufthansa, Air India, Air France, British Airways, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airlines, Malaysian Airline and Srilankan Airlines have regular flight directly to Bangalore from various destinations around the world. Cathay Pacific also has an understanding with Air India for direct flights to Bangalore. These airlines also fly to Chennai and Mumbai International airports which are connected to Bangalore (45 minutes and 1.5 hrs, respectively) by a large number of domestic airlines around the clock. Among the options for domestic airlines in India are Indian Airlines, Jet Airways, Air Sahara, Kingfisher Airlines, Air Deccan, Spicejet and Go Air. Bangalore is also accessible by train from all parts of India. Delegates arriving by air at the Bangalore Airport will be received and transferred to their place of accommodation by the conference organisation.
A range of accommodation options have been identified by the organizers for Nano 2006. They have been chosen for comfort, price and proximity to Indian Institute of Science and the conference venue. Hotel Grand Ashok has been identified as the conference hotel and an all-inclusive special price of USD 175 has been negotiated. All special events will be held here.
Nano 2006 will also feature an exhibition with about 20 stalls. The exhibition is meant for firms that wish to display their products or distribute literature.
Two types of stalls are on offer:
100 square feet (~ 10' x 10', or 3m x 3m)

The registration fee will cover abstract booklet, lunch and light refreshments on all days, conference banquet and cultural programme.
We encourage active participation by students at this conference. However, kindly also note that Nano-2006 is a high level research conference, where the most recent results will be discussed. New entrants and course students may not derive much advantage. Moreover, it is not financially viable to subsidize large numbers of students. Hence, it has been decided that Indian student registration will be restricted to active researchers registered for the Ph D Degree, who must produce a certificate to this effect from the Head of their Department and research guide. Students from overseas institutions and research students from India, can avail student registration rates by producing a certificate from the concerned university.
